Art Director Cedric Gibbons won more Academy Awards for Best Production Design than any other production designer in history. Gibbons served as supervising art director of MGM from the studio’s early days in 1924 to the final days of the studio system in 1956. Gibbons, considered to have been the most influential production designer in the history of American film, designed the Oscar, as well as winning several himself.
