Gold Diggers of 1933 is a pre-Code Warner Bros. musical film directed by Mervyn LeRoy. Speaking at a Directors Guild screening of the film, I remember him saying: We had the greatest cast, the best lighting, that new thing called sound, the knockout script… all we needed was color.
Well, here you go, Mervyn… Color!
