Nick Bennion's Malibu Beach House back in the early 60s. These homes were to be torn down in the coming years in order to have open beaches for the public, so they were rented out to filmmakers, artists, airline personnel and musicians for very little money. While Nick was a very talented painter, he considered himself a fisherman. I'm doing what I've always done best, sitting and watching. And probably smoking one thing or another.
Whether it's writing, directing, reviving Art Deco, or colorizing Silver Screen Stars, my jobs have always been on the creative side. Even now that I'm in my 90s, and with over a 1,500 images from which to choose, I still look forward to the next decade and reaching 100 and more.
